Easy DIY Face Masks

We're all about easy, fast and natural ways to help out our skin so lately we thought it would be fun to test out a few different DIY masks that we've seen on Pinterest. My friend, Blessed (she's one of our models!) and I absolutely love all things skincare so we thought this would be super fun! But let's be honest... it can be pretty overwhelming to search Pinterest for "easy DIY mask." Literally THOUSANDS of recipes, concoctions and slimy mixtures pop up and then you find yourself googling "can egg, avocado and olive oil clear acne." LOL! Gross. Luckily, we've done all the research for you and tested out a few different masks that we love. We took out what we didn't like, added what we know works and came up with our own little magic potion! After using these masks, we truly see a difference in our skin.  But don't take our word for it: keep reading and try them out for yourself!

Purifying Charcoal Mask (oily/acne prone skin)

Tea Tree Oil: known for antiseptic and anti-fungal properties.

Bentonite Clay: detoxifies and draws out impurities from the skin. Bentonite Clay contains abundance of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium.

Activated Charcoal Pill: absorbs 100-200 times its weight making it the perfect ingredient to purify and give your skin a deep-cleaning!

Mix together one teaspoon of Bentonite Clay, 2-3 drops of tea tree oil, & one teaspoon water. Here's a little tip: don't use a spoon to mix the clay since it can clump up easily. Use your fingers instead to mix it thoroughly. Break open one charcoal pill (you can get these at any drugstore) and mix it in thoroughly. Apply to your face using your fingers but don't get it too close to your eyes since the tea tree oil can irritate sensitive skin of the eyes. Let it harden and then rinse!

Hydrating Yogurt Mask (dry/combination skin type)

Plain Greek Yogurt: contains lactic acid that dissolves dead skin cells. Yogurt is a great moisturizer that helps acne, discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles.

Rosehip Seed Oilfull of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are known to correct dark spots and hydrate dry, itchy skin, all the while reducing scars and fine lines. If you have acne scars, then this oil is for you!

Mix 1-2 teaspoons of yogurt and 5-6 drops of Rosehip seed oil. Apply to face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes or until dry. Just a little warning... plain yogurt doesn't smell the best! But believe me, your skin will feel soooo soft after using this mask!

And that concludes our DIY mask lesson! Try them out and let us know what you think! Questions? Leave them in the comments below. Also, if you haven't seen them already...check out our new accessories that we added to the shop earlier this week!
